Certificate of Marital Status is the process to confirm Vietnamese citizens currently residing (permanently or temporarily) in the United States who applies for Certificate of Marital Status (first-time marriage or divorced) for the purpose of marriage or other legal needs (e.g., certifying the property ownership in Vietnam, etc.).

1. Required Documents

• Completed application form for Certificate of Marital Status.
• Copy/photo of valid Vietnamese passport.
• Copy/photo of U.S. Green Card.
• Copy/photo of the fiancé(e)’s identification (Vietnamese citizen ID or passport) if applying for marriage purposes.
• Court divorce decree or death certificate of the previous spouse (if applicable), notarized and legalized by the Vietnamese Consulate.
• Contact information (address, phone number, email, full name of the person receiving the documents).
